Velvet Valentine

Welp, the day is finally here....

I mustered up enough courage, time and strength (thanks coffee) to publish my first blog post.

Hello, all, and welcome!

First, I'd just like to say, if you're actually taking the time to read this, look at my photos, or even just visit my site in general, I appreciate it more than you know.

Fashion and lifestyle blogging is something that I've wanted to try my hand at for quite some time now. After getting a retail job back in November and starting school at SIUC this January for fashion merchandising, the timing just felt right.

I love the direction my life is headed right now and I'm excited to see where this new journey takes me.

Speaking of love, I decided to base my first post around Valentine's Day.

I. Love. Valentine's. Day.

I know Valentine's Day isn't everyone's favorite, but I just think it's the sweetest.

Seeing happy couples being adorable and doing adorable things together makes me smile.

Even if you're single, you should appreciate the fact that love is a beautiful thing, and everyone deserves to be in love at some point in their lifetime.

Luckily, I met the love of my life a couple years back. His name is Max and he's the best guy ever. He's actually the one who took these cool photos of me!

I'm sure you'll be hearing plenty more about him in future posts. Not only is he my photographer, but my best friend, lover, travel buddy and biggest supporter. <3

Okay, now on to the outfit deets....

I scored this velvet blazer on a Target clearance rack a couple months back for $14. Threw it on over a red body suit and a little denim skirt, paired with black tights to bring it all together.

Hopefully this gives you a little V-day outfit inspo if you haven't already found yours yet. You can't really go wrong with black and red.

Sooo.. these shoes kind of changed my life. (Beware: I'll probably be saying that more than once.)

Velvet AND floral?! So much yes. I loved this pattern the minute I saw it. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived in the mail, I opened them and discovered that they were velvet, too.

This velvet choker matched the blazer perfectly and made the whole fit a little more chic.

Choker: Claire's Boutique (exact)
